| Art Ward | | | | | In the early 60s, I had the good fortune to work with and for Gerhard in Seattle and later in Evendale, OH. It was inspiring to observe him, and his two dogs, walking the factory floor in the early hours of the morning, chatting with 3rd shift mechanics and observing firsthand their jet engnie assembly issues. I had the good fortune to work with the US Navy and Air Force on application of the J79 engine to the F4 Phantom aircraft. I had the further good fortune of being the lead test engineer for development of the TF39 turbofan transport engine, which also employs Gerhard’s patented variable stator compressor. He was a colorful character much admired by all who knew him. | | | | | | 10.12.2010 7:43 | | | |
